Case Study - Creating a Global Supply Chain Strategy
A leading pharmaceutical company had many manufacturing sites all over the world doing very different things from a cost and process perspective. Almost all of the issues and concerns raised by the client involved aspects of the supply chain -- the set of physical entities and information flows linking suppliers and customers to the internal value-added operations of the company.

Norbridge consultants took a three-phased approach to the problem. In the first phase, a "diagnostic triage" was performed to identify the high leverage areas -- either in terms of costs or customer service. A wide range of areas was reviewed, from long-term sourcing and procurement on the supplier side of the chain, to formulation and filling processes within manufacturing to packaging and labeling, through quality assurance, to order processing, fulfillment, and on to A/R management and the capture of marketing intelligence.

Once the high leverage areas were identified, initiatives were launched in each area to uncover potential corrective measures.

Value Added
Working together with 40 client team members, manufacturing sites were rationalized, and a variety of supply chain processes streamlined. First year savings realized were in excess of $40 million.
